Churchill Downs will again offer Kentucky Derby fans a rare opportunity to grab hard-to-get tickets to the "Run for the Roses" when the historic track hosts another public drawing on Saturday, April 5, for fans to purchase two reserved seats for the $2 million-guaranteed Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands on Saturday, May 3. Following last year's initial drawing for 1,000 tickets to the Kentucky Derby, this year's drawing has been expanded to also offer 420 tickets to the $500,000 Kentucky Oaks on Friday, May 2.

Churchill Downs will offer a total of 1,420 reserved seats that will be sold in pairs of two (2) tickets for a total of 500 pairs of Kentucky Derby tickets and a total of 210 pairs of Kentucky Oaks tickets (710 total pairs of tickets). The public drawing for Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks tickets begins at 7 a.m. (all times EDT) on Saturday, April 5.

Those hoping to participate in the public drawing for Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks tickets should enter the historic track through Gate 10 off Longfield Avenue. Customers may enter the clubhouse via Gate 10 to line up for Saturday morning's ticket drawing on Friday, April 4, starting at 6 p.m. Drawing participants will be able to maintain their place in line under cover of the colonnade that runs from Gate 10 to the clubhouse escalator. Restrooms will be open for the convenience of those awaiting Saturday morning's drawing.

Parking for the public drawing for tickets will be available in the large parking lot at Gate 10, located off Longfield Avenue. That lot will also open for participants on Friday at 6 p.m.

"The Kentucky Derby has long been one of the greatest sports events in the world and the Kentucky Oaks continues its growth as one of the most popular events in American racing," said Steve Sexton, president of Churchill Downs. "Last year's first-ever public drawing for Kentucky Derby seats was a great day for our track and our fans as it gave 500 fans an unexpected opportunity to experience first-hand the thrill and excitement of Kentucky Derby Day at Churchill Downs. The opportunity to purchase reserved seats to the Kentucky Derby would have been a long shot for many of those fans without the drawing, and the joy they displayed when they secured their reserved seats was a great reminder of the incredibly special nature of the Kentucky Derby experience. This year's allotment of tickets for the drawing again includes many prime Kentucky Derby seats, along with a good collection of reserved bleacher seats for the Kentucky Oaks."

The format for the drawing will be the same as last year's initial offering with a slight modification. The first 710 fans in line will be assigned numbers based on their order in line - positions 1 through 710. As each number is called, fans will then take turns reaching into one of two ticket hoppers - one containing vouchers for tickets to Kentucky Derby 134 and the other for Kentucky Oaks 134 tickets - to randomly select a voucher that will identify the location and price of two reserved seats to each respective event.

Tickets must be purchased immediately with payment either in cash or a Visa credit or debit card. Churchill Downs will not accept personal checks, money orders, or non-Visa credit or debit cards as payment for reserved seats to the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks offered in the April 5 public drawing.

The public drawing will offer first-floor clubhouse box seats in sections 111, 112, 113, 114 and 118 and grandstand bleacher seats in sections 120-125 and sections 223, 224 and 225. The cost of the Kentucky Derby seats offered in the public drawing range from $214 to $414 per pair, depending on location.

Kentucky Oaks reserved seats offered in the drawing are bleacher seats in sections 122, 123, 125, 127 and 128. The price for those Oaks seats offered in the public drawing range from $82 to $92 per pair.

Should a patron select a voucher and elect not to purchase those particular tickets, he or she could return to the end of the line to wait for another turn in the drawing for Kentucky Derby or Kentucky Oaks tickets.

Customers must be at least 18 years old to purchase reserved seats through the public drawing. Those patrons must come to Churchill Downs in person on April 5 to purchase those tickets. Patrons cannot participate in the public drawing by submitting cards, letters, e-mail or telephone calls to Churchill Downs.

Employees of Churchill Downs may not participate in the public drawing.
