A field of seven sophomore fillies has been entered to go 1 1/8 miles in Saturday's $150,000 Bonnie Miss S. (G2) at Gulfstream Park. BACKSEAT RHYTHM (El Corredor) will make her 2008 dirt debut after running third on the turf in a Gulfstream allowance on February 22. The Pat Reynolds-trained bay broke her maiden on the green in September at Belmont Park, prior to a runner-up effort in the Frizette S. (G1). She then surprised at 19-1 when third in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) in her juvenile finale. She'll have Javier Castellano aboard on Saturday.
ROBBIE'S GAL (Straight Man) captured the Georgia Debutante S. last year, and made her graded bow in the Davona Dale S. (G2) on March 2. The bay miss led from the start of that mile test before being passed late to finish third. She'll try to carry her speed an extra eighth of a mile here under Jose Lezcano.
HIGHEST CLASS (Mineshaft) also ran third in her graded debut last out. However, the Neil Howard-trained dark bay came three-wide around the second turn in the 1 1/16-mile Silverbulletday S. (G3), rallying from last to grab the show spot. She could relish the stretch out in this one.
The complete field for the Bonnie Miss, with riders and weights, is OVERANDABEAUTY (Grand Slam), Kent Desormeaux, 116; Backseat Rhythm, 118; SHES ALL ELTISH (Eltish), Eddie Castro, 118; HALO HOLLIE (Halo's Image), Cornelio Velasquez, 118; CLASSY CONCERN (West Acre), Ariel Smith, 116; Robbie's Gal, 118; and Highest Class, John Velazquez, 118.
