BaffertBob Baffert has become one of the most recognized names in thoroughbred racing in the last ten years. A native of Nogales, Ariz., Baffert grew up on a chicken and cattle ranch and got and his start with horses when he was about 12 by grooming and galloping Quarter Horses owned by his father. He got started in training with Quarter Horses in Arizona in 1971 and saddled his first Thoroughbred winner in '79. He won the Eclipse Award for outstanding trainer in '97, '98, and '99 and has trained seven Eclipse Award champions in addition to Indian Blessing - Chilukki, Midnight Lute, Real Quiet, Silverbulletday, Silver Charm, Vindication and War Emblem. He won the Oaks in 1999 with Silverbulletday and has placed in the race with Habibti (3rd in 2002) and Santa Catarina (2nd in 2003).

Jockey: Garrett Gomez

Garrett GomezGarrett Gomez was born on January 1, 1972. A native of Tucson, he now lives in southern California, where he rides on the circuit. He began riding at Santa Fe Downs in 1988, riding the midwest fair circuit before moving to California in 1998. He won the autumn Hollywood riding title that same year. He also has ridden for a time at Churchill Downs, where he was based before a self-imposed sabbatical in 2002 due to substance abuse problems. Returning to the saddle in September, 2004, Gomez has enjoyed tremendous succes, including winning the 2005 spring/summer Hollywood meet title. Gomez became Pletcher's go-to rider when John Velazquez was injured during the 2006 Keeneland spring meet. Last year Gomez broke Jerry Bailey's record for number of stakes races won in a single year by taking over 70 stakes races. He also captured the Kentucky Oaks aboard Rags to Riches.

Hal Earnhardt IIIHal & Patti have been married for over 30 years and have four children. The two reside in Queen Creek, Arizona. Hal was introduced to racing through his grandfather and has been actively participating in the sport for over twenty years. He has a small string of racehorses with Bob Baffert in sourthern California. He finished third in the 1998 Kentucky Derby with Indian Charlie. He has also campaigned El Corredor and Behaving Badly.
