John KimmelJohn Kimmel was born on June 25, 1954, in New Jersey.  He currently resides in Garden City, NY, or Tequesta, Florida, dependings on where is stable operation is located during the year.  Kimmel graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School in 1980 and has two sons: Ryan, a professional surfer, and Zack, who goes to design school.  John Kimmel gave up his veterinary practice in 1987 to begin training on a full time basis; he began his fleet at Calder Race Course.  Since then he has trained such notable runners as Hidden Lake, Flat Fleet Feet, Fabulously Fast, Catinca, Pompeii, Miss Linda, Premium Tap, Timber Reserve & Chief Seattle.

Jockey: Eibar Coa

Eibar CoaA native of Monagas, Venezuela, Coa first started riding in South Florida in 1993. His background in the Thoroughbred industry began in the Venezuelan jockey school. He then rode in his native country for two years before moving the the U.S. to polish his skills. He has won riding titles at Calder Race Course, Belmont Park, Aqueduct, Gulfstream Park and Monmouth Park.  Last year, Coa finished seventh in earned money among jockeys, earnings $14,237,059 with 285 winners from 1,628 mounts, including Grade 1 wins aboard Lear's Princess and Dream Rush.  He finished fifth in the 2003 Kentucky Derby aboard Eye of the Tiger, his only Kentucky Derby mount to date.

Owner: Gold Mark Farm LLC

Paul Bulmahn, who is the founder and owner of ATP Oil and Gas, got his start in the Thoroughbred industry after attending the 2002 Kentucky Derby.  Enchanted by the Run for the Roses, Mr. Bulmahn purchased property in Ocala, Florida in November of that year and named it Gold Mark Farm.  Bulmahn hirsed Todd Quast, who worked under Hall of Fame conditioner D. Wayne Lucas for 11 years, to be his farm manager and on-site trainer, and under Quast Gold Mark Farm has thrived.  Bulmahn’s first winner was a filly named Syrana’s Song, who is now placed in multiple stakes races. Quast says that Elusive Lady is the horse that has given Gold Mark Farm the most satisfaction at the track so far, saying that her victory in the Grade III Tempted Stakes was a thrill for them.
