Jose Acero was born in the Dominican Republic and has a wife and four children.  His first racehorse was Miss Tex Chum who, like Awesome Chic, was conditioned by Rafael Ramos.  She won at first asking and was Acero's first winner. Acero currently lives in the Dominican Republic ad is married with four children.  He has two daughters and two sons.

Making just his third career start in the 1 1/4-mile Queen's Plate S., the bay roared to a 3 1/2-length victory in that classic for Canadian-breds. Awesome Again enjoyed a perfect six-for-six campaign as a four-year-old in 1998, with his highlight reel including scores in the 1 1/4-mile Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) and the 1 1/8-mile Whitney H. (G1) and Stephen Foster H. (G2).
