Come on girls, pull yourselves together. This is no time to be fragile.

Everyday I hold my breath and hope that the news from the fillies pointing to the Kentucky Oaks is not another setback. Mushka, one of the top contenders, is out indefinitely according to her trainer Bill Mott and will unfortunately miss the Kentucky Oaks. Country Star came down with a fever and minor illness and her trainer Bobby Frankel has suggested we might not see her until Kentucky. I assume that would mean Keeneland. Another Frankel star, Turn Away, was pulled up and vanned off in her last start. Reports are that she has been given a clean bill of health and is back in training. Then there is Indian Blessing, the undefeated two year old filly champion, luckily, fingers crossed, no injuries, but certain questions remain concerning distance limitations off her desperate nose win last out. Pure Clan is back on the work tab at Oaklawn but she comes with some quirks of her own as she has been a bit erratic in her races. So it looks like we are in need of some new faces on the scene who can step in if these top contenders falter. Got any suggestions who they might be ?

02/04/2008 2:56 pmI agree, I know she has already been successful at two turns but that was as a two year old when she was physically so much better than the others. She does have that unique advantage of speed and stamina but I guess it is now a question of the rest of the fillies catching up to her.
