Dan Shapiro

Dan Shapiro, 27, has worked in the racing industry since 1999 when he completed internships at Churchill Downs and Suffolk Downs while pursuing a journalism degree at Boston University. After graduation, Shapiro worked for three years at the New Jersey Sports and Exposition authority's two racetracks, The Meadowlands and Monmouth Park. He was the Thoroughbred program handicapper in addition to his many duties in the marketing and publicity departments. Shapiro joined Daily Racing Form in 2004 as Marketing Manager and also served as the publication's handicapping contest correspondent. Most recently, Shapiro was Vice President at Cantor Gaming, an affiliate of the global financial services firm Cantor Fitzgerald, where he helped launch the new pari-mutuel wager, the Choose Six, and worked on the company's wireless gaming initiative. Shapiro has also been an online handicapper for Arlington Park, Calder Race Course, Churchill Downs and Hoosier Park. He lives in New York City.
