Dreaming of Anna

Well, Kentucky Oaks Day is finally here and I am excited to be going out to Churchill Downs to be part of a crowd in excess of 100,000 to see a great day of racing.

While the decision as to I'll be beting on in the Oaks has yet to be determined, a couple of horses that will be thrown out have been decided upon.

Like most of you, I have yet to decide exactly what I think about the field for the Kentucky Oaks.  But I have a feeling I might end up betting on one filly, while rooting for another.

So, we know Rags To Riches will be favored.  Octave will also get support.  But I think another filly trained by Todd Pletcher has a chance to score at a big price.

I have to admit being surprised that the connections of Dreaming of Anna are thinking about runniing in the Kentucky Oaks.

The betting public "honed in" on DREAMING OF ANNA and AUDACIOUS CHLOE respectively and for the most part were correct.

Three-year-old fillies take the stage on Sunday afternoon in The Gaily Gaily Stakes. Last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Filly winner, DREAMING OF ANNA (RAHY), wheels back in just 15 days following a less than representative effort in The Grade III Old Hat Stakes.

It is a scientific fact that girls develop at a much faster pace than boys. In elementary and middle school I could outrun and outjump any of the boys on our track team with ease.

It has taken a few days to come to grips with what I saw last Saturday as our humble network in England, Racing World, covered all of the stakes action in this division with races taking place at G

In recapping The Old Hat Stakes, we'll compliment the front-running winner DREAM RUSH.  Daughter of WILD RUSH "took it to" her five rivals right from the start and never looked back.

The Grade III Old Hat Stakes drew a small and very select group of six fillies.

A hearty welcome to you residents of the Blogoshere who have decided to join in a discussion and appreciation of the Kentucky Oaks, a race that I believe has clearly become the top prize for 3-year-old fillies in American racing.

With all due respect to the Kentucky Oaks, the international interest in that outstanding event is nowhere near the interest in the Kentucky Derby.

The 20th running of The Davona Dale Stakes or The 25th running of The Old Hat Stakes will mark the return of The 2006 Breeders Cup Juvenile Filly champion DREAMING OF ANNA.
