In 1989, Churchill Downs opened the infield for Kentucky Oaks Day for the first time, making "Louisville's Day at the Races" even more accessible the average fan.

The Kentucky Oaks was traditionally known as "Louisville's Day at the Races", but as the race for fillies becomes more prestigious, more and more celebrities are flocking the "Run for the Lilies".
