Tuesday, February 06, 2007

NEW ORLEANS, LA. (February 5, 2007) --

Richard, Bertram and Elaine Klein’s Get Ready Bertie, winner of last month’s Tiffany Lass Stakes, is the 9-5 morning line favorite in the $200,000 Grade III Silverbulletday Stakes for 3-year-old fillies Saturday at Fair Grounds Race Course.

The Silverbulletday, which will be contested at 1 1/16 miles on the main track, is the fourth of five stakes on Louisiana Derby Preview Day and serves as the final local prep for the Grade II Fair Grounds Oaks on March 10.

Get Ready Bertie closed ground in the short stretch run of the Tiffany Lass, which is contested at one mile, to win by two lengths and claim her first stakes win. Robby Albarado is back in the irons aboard the daughter of More Than Ready for trainer Steve Flint.

Heiligbrodt Racing Stable’s Appealing Zophie, the 3-1 early second choice, makes her sophomore debut after a solid 2-year-old campaign that included a 5 1/4-length win in the Grade I Spinaway at Saratoga. In November, she was fourth, beaten four lengths by Dreaming of Anna, in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies.

Two-time Eclipse Award winner John Velazquez will ride the daughter of Successful Appeal for the first time on Saturday for six-time Fair Grounds leading trainer Steve Asmussen.

Claiborne Farm and Adele Dilschneider’s Total, winner of the Letellier Memorial Stakes at Fair Grounds in her last start, tries two turns for the first time in the Silverbulletday. Total has won her last three starts by a combined 11 3/4 lengths.

Jesse Campbell, who has been aboard Total in each of her last two wins, will ride for trainer Al Stall Jr. Total is 4-1 on the morning line.

The Silverbulletday is the eighth race on Saturday’s card, with approximate post at 3:58 p.m.
