Just a quickie, Oaks fans. Wrote a long-winded blog over on the Derby site -- and if you care at all, you can give it a read.

Speaking strictly Oaks, though, I'll tell you I have seen -- in the last two days (Saturday and Sunday) -- Todd Pletcher's trio of Octave, Cotton Blossom and Rags to Riches work at Keeneland. Of the three, Cotton Blossom's work was the most visually impressive. She's a big, good-looking dark filly and just might be putting it all together at the right time to make a real name for herself.

Octave's work might have been better-than-looked and she came back blowing hard from it. But I believe that is exactly what Dr. Pletcher had in mind, and she's eligible to fire a big shot come Friday.

Rags to Riches worked this morning with Derby ace Circular Quay (again). She was down inside and getting muscled by the colt (by design), yet held her own with him. She's talented, she'll be the favorite -- and she's quite eligible to win.

Don't know if any of that will do you any good with anything, but I'd hope so. I'll be checking in when I can during the week.
