The Sneaky Pletcher Filly

So, we know Rags To Riches will be favored. Octave will also get support. But I think another filly trained by Todd Pletcher has a chance to score at a big price.

I'm talking about Cotton Blossom. I was impressed with her last effort at Oaklawn, and she certainly looks like she can handle top class fillies at this distance. I hope to catch a glimpse or two of her this week in the days leading up to the Oaks.

I saw Dreaming of Anna on the track this morning. She's had a tough time on the track since the Breeders' Cup win. As a fan, I hope to see her run very well. But as a bettor, I'll be going with Cotton Blossom.

There may be no value but Rags or Octave is the lock of the year for the Oaks

Justin, I think you are on to something and with Dreamin of Anna likely to enter the Oaks, Cotton Blossom will represent real value. I expect her to be the 5th choice after Rags, Octave, High Heels and Anna. I know JR has first call with Pletcher and opted to go over to Octave but I like the rider change to Prado who will keep her off fast fractions. Note her Breeders' Cup 3rd where JR has her take the overland route on what turned out to be a very rail bias surface that day.

Glad to see you on the Oaks site as well. I appreciate your input.
I just started looking at the Oaks. Seems much simpler to handicap than the Derby.
I like the 3 you mentioned (Rags, Octave, Cotton Blossom) and also Tough Tiz Sis. I feel Sis has the most upside potential if she continues to improve. Cotton Blossom was too close to the pace in the Fantasy and feel that is why she faded in the stretch. I don't think anyone can run with Rags if she shows her best; and wonder if Octave has the heart to win against the best. I think High Heels or HIgh Again can get into the Super, but I feel the first 4 I mentioned are solid Tri picks.
