Dreaming Of The Oaks

Monday, April 30, 2007

Like most of you, I have yet to decide exactly what I think about the field for the Kentucky Oaks.  But I have a feeling I might end up betting on one filly, while rooting for another.

I still think that Cotton Blossom will offer real value on Friday, especially since her two stable mates will attract heavy support.  But there is no doubt that, as a fan, I will be pulling for Dreaming of Anna.  Any girl who can beat the boys is OK in my book, and that's what she did before she won the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies last fall.  Who knows exactly what has kept her out of the winners circle as a three-year-old, but I don't see any reason why she can't turn things around.  I saw her this morning and she seems happy.  I hope she runs big on Friday.

Matt,

Dreaming Of Anna looked very happen on the racetrack. I expect her to run well, and I will be rooting for her as a fan.

Justin,

After looking over Anna today and speaking with Wayne Catalano, I feel she is indeed ready for battle and my top pick for the Oaks. I also love the fact she will give the betting public some value at 4/1 or possibly greater. I cannot see her being better than 3rd or 4th choice at the windows due to her performances in 07, but love the fact she is training great and shows an affinity for Churchill. Have you had a chance to check her out this week?

I ike Cotton Blossom in the Oaks. I think she will be in stalking position and Prado will push the button at the right time. For in the money longshots I like Dawn After Dawn and High Again. Good Trifecta would be CB,DAD,HA/CB,DAD, HA,RTR, O/CB,DAD,HA,RTR,O. Very good chance Pletcher will have 2 of 3 top finishers.

Justin,

How about a Dreaming of Anna/Street Sense double? It wouldn't be a major score, but there does seem to be a little history in support of it.

Justin,

I have to agree with you on Dreaming of Anna. Something tells me she will be 4/1 or possibly higher and will provide some value. Not to mention, Rags has only won out West and may not take to Churchill as most West coast horses tend to struggle with the deeper track. I will key her on top and throw a few under in the exotics. Do you think Mott's horse has a chance in this race? At the moment, I plan on keying Anna/Octave, High Again/Rags, Octave for my tri, but it's too early to tell if that's how I bet at the windows.
