Saturday's Fair Grounds Oaks did quite a bit towards clearing up the Kentucky Oaks picture.

Let's forget about the winner for a minute, and focus on the also-rans.  Appealing Zophie is not a router.  If she doesn't get her own way up front, she is not a threat at this level, at this distance.  I have thought this all along.

Total is also better suited to one turn, that is if her connections want her to be competitive against top class fillies.  I like Total, but she showed absolutely nothing today.

Get Ready Bertie, in my opinion, has a class issue, not a distance issue.

Octave is a legitimate threat to win the Kentucky Oaks.  Her effort was terrific for her first race since the Breeders' Cup.  Not much else to say.

The winner, Mistical Plan, looked great in the final 1/4 mile.  She really gave them the slip at the top of the lane, and was never in danger.

Great race from Octave.  Great race from Mistical Plan.  No one else showed anything.
