Still Don't Know Who I Will Be Betting on

Wednesday, May 02, 2007

While the decision as to I'll be beting on in the Oaks has yet to be determined, a couple of horses that will be thrown out have been decided upon.

As far as the Oaks/Derby Double goes as well as Pick 3 and Pick 4 wagers, neither Rags to Riches nor Dreaming of Anna willl be used on any of my tickets.

Regarding Dreaming of Anna, I can't left sentiment get in the way of cold, hard logic.  She won the B.C. Juvenile Fillies when breaking from advantageous post 1 on a day with a 'golden rail' and has come back with two disappointing starts as a three-year-old.  I firmly believe the reports coming out of this filly's camp that she is back to her herself and is training great but with the dull form this year and a lack of recent starts, she can't be included in my multi-race wagering strategy.

Even though Rags to Riches is the likeliest of the 14 runners entered in the Oaks to emerge victorious, I don't believe that her odds won't be accurately reflected in the betting as she is expected to go off as a short-priced favorite.  There are question marks about the quality of the competition that she has been facing while she will face a much different test in terms of sheer quantity with such a large and bulky group, especially with her running style and post position draw in stall 11.

Now all I have to do is find the right horses to use.

Whatever you do, don't leave out Baffert's horse - Tough Tiz's Sis. She has all of the speed and will be there at the end with a large payout. Remember last years Oaks? Lemons Forever at large payoff.
