Oaks Trophy

A perpetual trophy commemorating the classic for 3-year-old fillies was designed by George Louis Graff at the same time he designed the Kentucky Derby trophy, in time for the 1924 Derby.

Graff produced the designs for Redlich & Co. in New York, who were commissioned by Lemon & Son of Louisville. The 25-inch sterling silver trophy has horse head handles on each side and is ornately adorned with a silver horseshoe on top. Each year the winner's name is engraved on the trophy.

The Kentucky Derby Museum is the resting place for the trophy. (As a permanent memento, the winning owner of the Oaks receives a set of 12 sterling silver julep cups.)
