LOUISVILLE, Ky. (January 28, 2006) - The mutuel field remained a narrow favorite over champion 2-year-old filly Folklore and the surging Wild Fit with one day of betting remaining in Pool 1 of Churchill Downs' 2006 Kentucky Oaks Future Wager ("KOFW").

The mutuel field, which includes all 3-year-old fillies other than the 23 individual horses in Pool 1, was a lukewarm 9-2 favorite following Saturday's next to last day of betting in the four-day pool. Close behind "all others" were reigning 2-year-old filly champion Folklore, the D. Wayne Lukas-trained winner of the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (GI), and the Patrick Biancone-trained Wild Fit, winner of the Del Mar Debutante (GI). Both fillies stood at odds of 5-1 at the end of Saturday's betting, but the betting total for Folklore ($3,092) was slightly higher than the support for Wild Fit ($2,965) in betting at racetracks and satellite wagering outlets throughout North America.

Total betting on the first of three 2006 KOFW pools climbed to $24,266 on Saturday. Pool 1 wagering will resume at noon (all times Eastern) on Sunday. Betting in the pool is scheduled to conclude at 6:30 p.m.

The Kentucky Oaks Future Wager offers racing fans the opportunity to wager on Oaks contenders well in advance of the $500,000-added race for 3-year-old fillies at odds that could be more attractive than they would receive on Oaks Day. It is a minimum $2 wager and a win bet only. There are no refunds in the Kentucky Oaks Future Wager and winning payouts are based on the odds in place at the conclusion of each pool.

KOFW Pool 2 is scheduled for March 2-5 and the third and final pool is set for April 6-9. The 132nd Kentucky Oaks will be run on Friday, May 5 at Churchill Downs.
