Folklore Draws Post 4 For The January 16 Santa Ynez (GII)
By: Mark Hoard
Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies champion Folklore is ready to make her 3-year-old debut in the Santa Ynez (GII), going at seven furlongs at Santa Anita, Monday January 16, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Drawing post four in the six horse field, Folklore will be ridden by Edgar Prado.
Folklore figures to be a big favorite in the Santa Ynez, as she's easily the most accomplished filly of the group. The field from the rail out, with jockeys: Trick's Pic, Tony Farina; Talullah Lula, Garrett Gomez; My Little Monkey, Jose Valdivia; Folklore, Edgar Prado; Lake Como, Isaiah Enriquez; and Dance Daily, Victor Espinoza.
Despite the turnback in distance, Folklore's trainer Wayne Lukas is expecting a big effort, "She’s done well since she’s been here," said Lukas. "She’s actually done well since the Breeders’ Cup. I thought she was getting good late fall; I thought she was VERY good in the Breeders’ Cup, but I think she’s still moving forward."
