Women In The Oaks
Email This Page »
Women have become commonplace on the Oaks scene as owner and breeders of not only runner, but also winners. In fact, three of the last ten winners were owned by women.

Besides the role of owner, Mary Keim also trained the 1965 winner, her own Amerivan; she is the only woman to have trained an Oaks winner. Julie Krone became the first and only female jockey to ride in the Kentucky Oaks when she rode Quinpool to a third place finish in the 1993 edition.
