(February 7, 2004) Miss Coronado earned a hard fought victory in four way photo in Saturday's Davona Dale Stakes (GII) at Gulfstream Park.

Miss Coronado set the pace in the Davona Dale, maintaining a one half length lead after a moderate half mile in :49.13. Jockey Cornelio Velasquez had her on the rail through three quarters of a mile in 1:14.11, where she still had the lead by a head over Last Song and a half length over 4-5 favorite Society Solection. Velasquez went to work on the leader in the stretch, and she responded gamely. In deep stretch the race was wide open, with the top three joined by Eye Dazzler. At the wire, Miss Coronado had her head in front, with Eye Dazzler second, a neck in front of Society Selection, and Last Song another neck back in fourth. The final time for the mile and one sixteenth was 1:44.62.

Miss Coronado was coming off a maiden win at Santa Anita for owner and breeder Stonerside Stable and trainer Bobby Frankel. This was her first lifetime start on the dirt, with her other two being two turn turf races. She earned $90,000 for the victory, pushing her lifetime earnings to $124,320.

Miss Coronado returned $18.80, $8.80, and $3.60. The $2 exacta with Eye Dazzler paid $108.40.
