STELLAR JAYNE - A victory in the 130th Kentucky Oaks by Spendthrift Farm, Chuck Kidder, Nancy Cole and Nick Strong's gray daughter of Wild Rush would allow Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas to earn another spot in the Churchill Downs record book. An Oaks win by Stellar Jayne would be Lukas' fifth, which would pull him into a tie with the late legend Woody Stephens for the most victories in the history of the race. Lukas is currently tied for second with Calumet Farm legend Ben A. Jones. Stellar Jayne has failed to win in five races this year, but won the Pocahontas Stakes last fall at Churchill Downs. She has a record of 3-0-1 in 10 races and has earned $166,483. Robby Albarado, who is looking for his first victory in the Kentucky Oaks, will ride Stellar Jayne. |

"Stellar Jayne is by is by Wild Rush, winner of the Illinois Derby (G2), the Metropolitan Handicap (G1), the Kentucky Cup Classic Handicap (G3) (where he dead heated with Silver Charm in a memorable stretch-long duel), and the Carter Handicap (G1). He finished with an 8-0-3 record from 16 starts, earning nearly $1.4 million. This second crop stallion is the sire of four stakes performers, including Wimbledon, winner of the Louisiana Derby (GII), 2003 Canadian two-year-old champion Judith's Wild Rush, winners Fencelineneighbor (Barona Stakes at Del Mar), Friendofthefamily (Scottsdale Stakes at Turf Paradise), and Quinton's Gold Rush. His two-year-old colt was the sales topper at the recent February Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company at Calder sale, going for $1.6 million. He is currently standing stud in Japan. Stellar Jayne is the second stakes winner from her dam To The Hunt, the other being the exceptional race mare Starrer. Starrer hit the board in 14 of 20 lifetime starts, with wins in the Bayakoa (GII) and the Princess (GII) at three, the Bayakoa for a second time at four, and the Santa Margarita Invitational Handicap (G1) and Santa Maria Handicap (G1) at five en route to earning slightly over $1 million. To The Hunt herself was a consistent racehorse, finishing with a 5-5-5 from 19 starts. She was twice graded stakes placed: second in the Next Move Handicap (GIII) and third in the Rare Treat Handicap (GIII). Her half sister, American Royale, won the Adirondack (GII) and Prioress (GII).
