HOLLYWOOD STORY - George Krikorian's daughter of Wild Rush has only one victory in seven races - but it was a good one. She won the Hollywood Starlet (GI) at Hollywood Park to cap her 2-year-old season and opened this year with a strong runner-up finish to A.P. Adventure in the Las Virgenes (GI) at Santa Anita. Although she has just one victory, trainer John Shirreffs' filly has earned $424,500 while compiling a record of 1-3-1 in seven races. An Oaks victory would be the first for her owner and trainer. Jockey Victor Espinoza, who won the 2002 Kentucky Derby (GI) aboard War Emblem, is also looking for his first success in the Oaks. |

Hollywood Story is by Wild Rush, winner of the Illinois Derby (G2), the Metropolitan Handicap (G1), the Kentucky Cup Classic Handicap (G3) (where he dead heated with Silver Charm in a memorable stretch-long duel), and the Carter Handicap (G1). He finished with an 8-0-3 record from 16 starts, earning nearly $1.4 million. This second crop stallion is the sire of four stakes performers, including 2003 Canadian two-year-old champion Judith's Wild Rush, winners Fencelineneighbor (Barona Stakes at Del Mar), Friendofthefamily (Scottsdale Stakes at Turf Paradise), and Quinton's Gold Rush. His two-year-old colt was the sales topper at the recent February Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company at Calder sale, going for $1.6 million. He is currently standing stud in Japan. Hollywood Story is the first foal out of her dam Wife For Life, who spent most of her 32 race career on the Louisiana-Texas circuit. All five of her wins came at Louisiana Downs going two turns on the turf. She is a daughter of Dynaformer, second leading sire of 2003 and leading sire of Grade One stakes winners in 2003, who won the 1 1/4 miles Jersey Derby (GII). In addition to Dynaformer, there are several stamina influences in Hollywood Story's pedigree, including His Majesty, sire of Pleasant Colony; Nearco, twice champion in Italy; and Swaps, the 1955 Kentucky Derby (GI) winner. Also, Hollywood Story's fourth dam, Village Beauty, produced 1968 Kentucky Oaks (GI) winner Silent Beauty.
