Ashado
Ashado took the 130th Kentucky Oaks by 1 1/4 length over Island Sand in the 1 1/8 mile filly classic. Ashado went off as the 2-1 favorite in the Oaks, her fifth graded stakes win of her career.
Island Sand
Island Sand ran a huge race to be second to Ashado in the Kentucky Oaks. She lost a shoe and was reshod in the paddock, but was unaffected by the turmoil and turned in an excellent effort to pass Madcap Escapade for the place spot in Friday's Oaks.
Madcap Escapade
Bruce Lunsford's unbeaten Madcap Escapade finished third after having the lead most of the way in the 130th Kentucky Oaks. She held the lead until inside the 1/8 pole, when Ashado overtook her. She wound up third, three lengths behind winner Ashado.

Ashado Wins 130th Kentucky Oaks

Ashado, the 2-1 favorite under jockey John Velazquez, overhauled pacesetting Madcap Escapade in the stretch and then had enough left to outrun longshot Island Sand and win the 130th running of the $572,000 Kentucky Oaks today at Churchill Downs.
